El Jolgorio Tepeztate is made from the Tepeztate agave (Agave Marmorata), a wild species that takes up to 25 years to reach maturity. This mezcal offers an incredibly complex flavour profile, thanks to the unique terroir of its high-altitude habitat in San Luis del Río, Oaxaca.
With an ABV of 48%, this mezcal is bold yet refined. It has deep, earthy undertones, complemented by a natural smokiness from the traditional underground volcanic stone ovens used for roasting the agave. The mezcal's complexity is heightened by the use of mountain water during fermentation, which adds a clean, mineral quality.
El Jolgorio Tepeztate follows time-honoured mezcal production methods. The agave is ground by a tahona and fermented in wooden vats made of sabin and pine. After fermentation, it undergoes double distillation in copper stills, a process overseen by master distiller Rafael Méndez at the Los Méndez distillery.
It holds both CRM and Kosher certifications, reflecting its commitment to quality and sustainability.
